Wild Portrait Artist: Monique Castellani-Kraan
I became enamoured with art when I was 11 and it stuck with me ever since. Throughout school I would constantly get told off for drawing instead of paying attention in class! The natural world is the key driving point in my artwork, having kept a variety of unusual pets and working in animal care environments. My passion is animal portraiture with the goal of showing just how vibrant and wonderful animals can be.
My favourite tools are Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran D’ache Luminance and Caran D’ache Pablo coloured pencils. For my graphite art I mainly work with Caran D’ache Grafwood pencils. I use a variety of different papers, but I particularly favour Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper for my pencil works. All of the tools I use are acid free, lightfast and archival to ensure the longevity of my pieces.
I am a member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society, Coloured Pencil Society of America, and the Pencil Art Society.
