I specialise in animal paintings, from fantasy animal illustrations to detailed wildlife and pet portraits. To get a better idea of the kind of work I produce and if my work is the right fit for you, feel free to browse my portfolio or drop me a message.
Please be aware that commissions are intended for private use only and are not for commercial use.
A 50% non-refundable deposit of the total price is required to secure your booking. Deposits can be made via Paypal, cheque, bank transfer, or cash if you live locally and are able to meet in person. This deposit covers the cost of the materials I will be using for your commission and acts as insurance against non-paying customers. If you are paying your booking deposit by cheque I will wait until the cheque has cleared before starting drawing.
You will not be asked for the outstanding balance until your commission is complete and ready to be delivered to you.
When ordering pet portraits, I will request multiple photos per subject from you as a reference for painting. For more information on how to take the best photos please see my guide on taking good photographs of your pet. A range of 5-10 photos from different angles is good and I work mainly from one photo. Good reference photos are essential for a good artistic representation of your pet – so please ensure that all photos are in focus and are taken from eye level. If you are inquiring about a portrait of a deceased pet and you don’t have many photos then I am happy to take a look at what photos you do have and will do my best to create a beautiful, loving memory of your lost one.
Upon agreement of the size and contents of the commission you will be asked to sign a Commission Agreement Contract which can be completed either digitally or via post.
The time it takes to complete a commission is heavily dependent on how large the commission is, the medium and what period of the year it is. Normally it takes me 2-4 weeks to complete a commission, however during peak times (especially Christmas) it may take me a little longer. Please be sure to let me know if there is a specific deadline for your commission (e.g. for a birthday, Christmas or anniversary) to ensure it will be completed before that date.
Once the commission is complete I will contact you requesting the remaining cost of the commission and your delivery address. Once received, I will send your commission to you using Royal Mail insured and tracked delivery. All original artwork comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
As I work mainly on wood board, all artwork will be sent flat. There is a flat rate of £10 for within the UK and £20 for international postage. This fee covers the cost of the packaging to ensure that your artwork is very well-protected when making its way to you, as well as the cost of postage.
I offer glassless framing services internationally for all mediums with the exception of soft pastel work.
My coloured pencil paintings are now mounted to wood board before starting the artwork and then varnished upon completion. This is fantastic because it means that they can now be displayed without glass allowing for some wonderful glassless framing opportunities!
If you are ordering soft pastel or pastel pencil artwork, they will need framing behind glass, as well as a double mount or spacers to protect them. I do not spray my pastel work with fixatives to preserve the vibrancy of the colours- so it can be fragile and easy to damage.
I strongly suggest that any pastel artwork is handled by your framers only and that it is framed as soon as possible upon delivery. Please ensure that the artwork is placed behind real glass and not plexiglass as the static from plexiglass can lift pastel dust off the artwork over time, resulting in clouded glass and potential damage to the artwork too. If you order a soft pastel artwork from me, I will include a care sheet with your artwork detailing specific care and framing requirements.
Every commission is handled with extreme care. My goal is for you to be completely satisfied with the finished painting. It is for this reason that I work closely with my clients during the entire process to produce an artwork that they will adore and enjoy for decades to come. All sales are final.
